My 8 year old recently asked if we could make some homemade burgers together so we did! Why not give it a go?” Says Sue Bedford

Ingredients:
1 onion2 x cloves garlic500g lean steak mince2 eggsOregano (fresh if poss)Sage (fresh if poss)2 slices brown bread for breadcrumbs
How to make:
We placed a splash of olive oil into a pan and heated gently then added one chopped onion and 2 cloves of chopped garlic. Whilst that simmered gently, in a separate bowl he mixed 500g of lean steak mince from the local butchers with 2 beaten eggs, chopped and washed oregano and sage from the garden (use mixed herbs as an alternative) and breadcrumbs from 2 large slices of brown bread. We then added the chopped onion and garlic from the pan.Onto a board he sprinkled a little plain flour to help prevent the burgers from sticking and then separated some of the mix and shaped it into a burger. They were then placed into the fridge for 15 minutes before cooking.
Cooking options are to grill, oven cook or BBQ – ensure piping hot and thoroughly cooked before eating! Add cheese if you wish or chilli if you fancy! We are enjoying with fresh wholemeal rolls.
Why not try this with your child/children? Or just make for yourself!
