8 BLUEBELL WALKS IN & AROUND BUCKS
Big up the Bluebells! Word on the street is that these beautiful fairy flowers are starting to bloom, so now is the time to take in the stunning scenery

KNOWL HILL FOREST FAMILY WALK
This walk could be a new contender for our favourite. It really is quite beautiful. We parked on the ‘Knowl Hill Bridleway Circuit’ which is a long road with plenty of space opposite a field of lovely horses. Watch out for those stinging nettles! The path that leads to the walk starts directly opposite

FINGEST HANGER WOOD FAMILY WALK
This circular walk starts at The Chequers Inn pub in Fingest out towards Cadmore End through Hanger Woods. The route is just under 3 miles and enjoys the best of the beautiful Chiltern Hills countryside. Need to know Distance: approx. 3 miles although this can be shortened or lengthened as needed.

SKIRMETT GREAT WOOD WALK
This lovely walk starts near The Frog Inn pub in Skirmett. It’s a 2 mile route mostly travelling along the perimeter edge of Great Wood woods. Google maps doesn’t show the footpaths sadly but the route is really easy to follow, as it is a well trodden path and there are helpful arrows painted onto

TURVILLE HEATH FAMILY WALK
Turville Heath is a ‘green’ type area where The Barn Cafe can be found. This café is unique in that you cannot reach it by car. That heath is a lovely place to rest and refresh half way through a walk. We love this walk for the beautiful countryside with fantastic views and woodland

FIRETH VILLAGE FAMILY WALK 2 MILE ROUTE
This circular walk starts off in Frieth village. We park on the road side near the kissing gate which takes you directly into the fields. This is marked on the map near Ellery Rise Road. Cut across the field, through another gate until you get to some woodland. For the direct route turn right within

MOOR END COMMON FAMILY WALK ROUTE 2
The lovely circular family walk is approximately 2 miles long cutting through a mix of woodland and open fields. One of the highlights of this walk for our boys is the big hollow in the woods, where the kids loved running down the steeps sides. This plus the bridge running over a very small stream

MOOR END COMMON FAMILY WALK
We love the countryside around Frieth. This walk offering a mix of undulating countryside and woodland makes it one of our favourites. There are lots of different tracks and footpaths to follow, this route shows just one of them and covers roughly 2.9 miles in distance. Need to know Distance: 2.9 miles although the route

DENHAM COUNTRY
PARK
Denham Country park covers 69 acres of land and includes a nature reserve, two rivers and a stretch of the Grand Union Canal. There is an adventure playground, cafe and lots of footpaths and tracks suitable for walking, buggies or bikes. Along the marked nature trail track there are 10 brass rubbings which our kids enjoyed

MUNCES WOOD
Munces Wood and Kimber’s Copse is a lovely little area of woodland and grassland tucked behind Marlow Bottom. We only very recently discovered this hidden gem! The route There is a board showing the routes as soon as you enter the woodland after parking up. You’ll be able to see and follow the routes very easily

SHILLINGRIDGE WOODS WALK
These woods sit between the Frieth and Marlow which is a particularly hilly area with great views, making it a great family walking route. We parked at the end of Mundaydean Lane in a layby, before following the footpath into the woods. Our boys loved the woodland – it has lots of excellent places

HURLEY BUGGY WALK
Hurley Village is a beautiful village just beyond Bisham and Temple but it is on the other side of the river to Marlow. You can access it by bike over the Temple bridge but this post is about the short circular routes that are ideal for buggies. For these routes we recommend driving to Hurley

TURVILLE MANOR WALK
This family walk near Marlow is roughly 2 miles long and travels through fields and woodland. It starts in the lovely Turville village near the Bull and Butcher pub. Head out of the village with the pub on your left and you will pick up a footpath on your right just as you leave the village.

LITTLE MARLOW SAILING CLUB WALK
There are several routes you can take starting from the Spade Oak Car park in Little Marlow, according to the length of walk you want to do. The map below shows a longer route but there is a cut through you can take to shorten it.
This route is nicest in the summer months as in winter it does get very muddy – as you can see on the day we did this walk!

HAMBLEDON PHEASANTS HILL WALK
This family walk starts off in Hambleden village. You can park in the village itself or the car park next to the Stag and Huntsman. Note: this is now a pay and display car park. The route begins travelling up a footpath following a long steep ish hill. Once you are up its down hill

HAMBLEDONE VALLEY LONG FAMILY WALK
This is a beautiful family walk but it does cover some distance. We did it in 3hrs with children aged between 4 and 8 years old and stopping a lot. It’s probably a 2hr walk at a steady pace if you didn’t stop. Need to know Parking – in Hambleden village Distance: this circular route

MAIDENHEAD THICKET TO STUBBINGS NURSERY
This family walk is a short one ideal for little legs that can’t travel too far but the Thicket itself has more walks that you can explore. See the picture of the map below. Park in the Butterfly Trail car park in Pinkney’s Green, cross over the A404 on the footbridge and follow the path through

TURVILLE WOODLAND WALK
We love this walk as it has great views and a mix of woodland for climbing trees/finding the best sticks and open fields to enjoy the beautiful countryside. On this particular day after finishing the walk back in Turville village, we went up to the windmill to all sit down and watch the sunset whilst

FRIETH VILLAGE SHORT WALK
This walk starts in Frieth village and does a short loop through the joining fields, into a small bit of woodland before returning on a circular loop. The walk finishes with walking through Frieth village itself. It is such a quiet village that we didn’t find it a problem walking the kids down the road.

MARLOW BOTTOM WOODS WALK
There is a stretch of woodland that sits between Marlow and Marlow Bottom. These are great for exploring with interesting trees to climb, a fab rope swing, fields and great spots for blackberry picking when they are in season. On the map below I’ve suggested one route but you can make this walk as long

WINTER HILL GOLF COURSE FAMILY WALK
This is one of our fave family walks. The views across the countryside are beautiful, especially looking out over the river Thames towards Bourne End on the route back. It’s also possible to see Cliveden. The kids love taking their binoculars along on this route.

CLIVEDEN WOODLAND WALK
Cliveden Woodland area is part of the the Cliveden Estate owned by the National Trust. That said, this area has it’s own entrance which is further down the road from the main entrance. The woodlands are a lovely area to explore and there are plenty of natural attractions for kids, from climbing logs and dens

THE JOLLY FARMER PUB WALK IN COOKHAM
The Jolly Farmer is a lovely pub in Cookham Dean, owned by the village for the village. As well as lovely food, they have a great outdoor play area. It’s worth visiting just for lunch or a drink whilst the kids play in the summer or you can combine a visit with a walk.

HAPPY VALLEY SHORT
WALK
Happy Valley is the locals name given to an area of countryside that sits between the Henley Road and Marlow Common. It’s rich in woodland and rolling hills making it a beautiful place to walk. There will be many routes you can explore in this area, mostly visible on google maps.

BOVINGDON GREEN CIRCULAR WALK
This walk starts from Bovingdon Green just next to the Royal Oak pub. We did it with our two boys aged 3 and 6 with no buggies or carriers. The route we took wouldn’t be suitable for a buggy as it’s quite narrow in places and has pinch points to walk through (designed to stop horse riders or bikes maybe, although I’m not exactly sure!)

THE SPADE OAK PUB LITTLE LEGS WALK
This is a very short walk that starts and finishes at the Spade Oak pub in Bourne End. It’s perfect for little legs who like playing along the way as there is a stream for poo sticks, the river for boat spotting and ducks and the train line to watch the train go past

THE BULL AND BUTCHER PUB WALK TURVILLE
The Bull and Butcher is a lovely traditional English pub in the beautiful village of Turville, just past Hambledon. The pub does great food and can get very busy, so best to book if you plan on enjoying one of their delicious Sunday roasts

HAMBLEDON STAG AND HUNTSMAN PUB WALK
Hambleden is a beautiful village a short drive out of Marlow towards Henley. This is a short circular walk we do which is suitable for very young children who can’t walk far. It combines a stop at the Stag and Huntsman pub and is very scenic although not suitable for buggies or scooter/balance bikes.

BISHAM WOODS
Bisham woods is on the way towards Cookham when travelling from Marlow. These woods offer all of the usual natural woodland features you’d expect in the woods from logs to walk along and dens to rope swings. There is also an abundance of sticks and trees to hit them against!

THE FLOWER POT PUB WALK
This is a short 1.5km walk that we do from Hambledon weir to the Flower Pot pub which is suitable for young children. There are probably many different routes around the pub but this is one we enjoy which is perfect for our 2.5yr and 5yr old boys – they like to spend more time

BLACK PARK
Black Park covers over 500 acres of woodland and heathland. There are over 10 miles of well surfaced track, a large lake, cafe and woodland adventure play area. There is also a Go Ape on site and lots of organised activities running in the park.

BURNHAM BEECHES
Burnham Beeches National Nature Reserve is apparently one of the best examples of ancient woodland in Britain. Famed for its beech and oak pollards – many of which are more than 400 years old. This is a really enjoyable and safe place to take the kids out to explore the countryside.

MARLOW COMMON WOODS
Marlow Common is a an area of woodland near Marlow town center that makes a perfect place for a walk and play for children of all ages. The area was an old WW1 training ground so there are lots of bunkers for exploring as well rope swings, dens and an abundance of fallen logs.
