HENLEY RIVER AND ROWING MUSEUM
Henley river and rowing museum is, as the name suggests a museum dedicated to rivers and rowing as well as the history of Henley. Whilst the museum itself is interesting, the reason for listing it here is that there is a great permanent Wind in the Willows exhibition. This brings to life the much-loved story with 3D models, lighting and music. My 4yr old and 1.5yr old love it there. Our record so far is 4 circuits, at which point I had to drag them away!
After visiting the museum it’s only a short walk to Henley park. This is a particularly lovely play area for toddlers but also suits older children.
An annual pass is very reasonably priced. We’ve found it a fab place to visit on an afternoon when we’re struggling for something to get us out the house, especially on rainy days. There is also a nice cafe.

The museum, cafe and shop are open 7 days a week 10am to 5pm (Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day)

OTHER THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW
– There is a free car park
– The museum and exhibitions are small enough that a toddler can toddle around it without a push chair if you prefer (although taking a push chair in is fine too and there is a lift)
– It’s worth exploring the museum itself upstairs, there are a few exhibits that small children can interact with
– The café have a children’s menu for lunch/dinner
