Ray Mill Island

Ray Mill Island is a small secluded space just near Boulters Lock in Maidenhead. Although the island is very small there is plenty to see including an aviary and guinea pig enclosure, a cafe and small children’s play area and several wooden sculptures suitable for small kids to climb on and over. Alternatively sit and relax looking out over the river!

Where

Access to Ray Mill Island is from Ray Mead Road cross the road bridge at Boulters Lock walk past the hotel (SL6 8PE) and cross the pedestrian bridge onto the island. [see map]

Ray Mill Island is approximately 20 mins car drive from Marlow (7 miles).

What you need to know

Parking: park in Boulters Lock car park which is a very short walk to the island. This is a pay and display car park

Facilities:

Aviary and Guinea Pig enclosure
Picnic tables and benches
wooden animals dotted around for imaginative play and small play area for children aged 3-8 years
Toilets
Cycle racks

Please do not feed the squirrels on the island as they are wild animals and may bite

Other: if you are taking a toddler that has a tendency to run off is may be worth taking reins, as you are never far from water!
