A bit about Emma

Emma Hellewell is a local mum of 2 and runs Little Aces Tennis – Mini Tennis for 3-6 year olds in Marlow. Her weekly lessons are really fun and engaging with lots of games to improve basic ball skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as introduce all the basic shots. How long have you lived in Marlow?

We have lived in Marlow for 8 years with my husband Matt and two daughters Lucy (7) and Anna (4) .

Where will you be spending Christmas this year?

This year its pretty exciting as it will be the first year that we will spend Christmas in Marlow as we’ve always been in the Lake District at my Mums.

What are your top 5 things to do locally to help your family get in the Christmas spirit?

We love the build up to Christmas. This is our top 5

1. Buying the Christmas Tree.  This has to be from Christmas Common. Such a magical (but tad expensive) place to go and for us it really marks the beginning of all the festivities. My kids love it and are always allowed to buy a new tree decoration from the Tree Barn shop which is gorgeous.

2. Visit to Toad Hall Nurseries in Henley. We’ve been doing this with my friends kids since they were tiny. We go for a hot chocolate to see the amazing array of whacky lights, decorations and the cool little inside Christmas trail to Santa’s grotto. Santa is never there, but the kids love sitting in the little house and pretending he is. I suspect we will keep doing this until they are 18!

3. The Sheppards house Christmas lights in Marlow Bottom – THE BEST Christmas lights around. We often go 2 and 3 times. Its incredible, the lights are all to music and the kids run and dance around their driveway for ages.

4. Visit to a Christmas Show or Light Trail with friends. This Year we are going to the Blenheim Palace lights show and we can’t wait

5. Our first Marlow Christmas.  This year we will definitely be enjoying some walks on common and beers in the Royal Oak.
